Legendary noughties movie returning to screens for prequel – as lead star gushes their ‘dreams have come true’
WHILE the fans of this flick may be clued up on their legal lingo, there’s little chance anyone will be objecting to the Legally Blonde prequel that is in the works.
Amazon Prime Video has greenlit a new series about the adventures of Elle Woods before she set her hopes on becoming a lawyer.

While Reese Witherspoon may not be playing the leading woman anymore, she’s still got her fingers in the Legally Blonde pie, as her production company Hello Sunshine will be bringing the new show to life.
The American actress gushed about the project, saying: “I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series!
Blondes DO have more fun
By Jack Pusey
Barbie fever may have swept the world last year, but let’s not forget an iconic blonde bombshell that came before her.
Elle Woods captured our hearts with her compassion, wit and unapologetic sense of fun in Legally Blonde and now – provided Prime Video stick the landing – a whole new audience can get in on the fun.
With sequels and a hit musical already under its belt, the franchise has proved time and time again that smarts and sassiness can go hand in hand.
It brings me great comfort that Reese Witherspoon is at the helm of this new series – if anyone can look out for Elle’s best interests, it’s her.
Nostalgia never looked so… pink?
“Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do.
“What could be better than that?! I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true.
“Legally Blonde is back!”
The screenwriter Laura previously worked with Hollywood star Issa Rae on all five seasons of comedy show Insecure.
In the plot of the original film that came out over two decades ago, fashionable sorority queen Elle Woods is unexpectedly dumped by her boyfriend Warner after graduation.
Desperate to win him back, Elle endeavours to bag a place at Harvard and prove to him that she is serious wife material.
Once there, she impresses everyone around her with her unflappable sense of faith and savvy know-how, and ends up being tasked with defending a woman wrongly accused of killing her husband.
While Elle embraces an unconventional approach to law, insisting on being fully kitted out in pink even in the courtroom, she soon realises there is more to her than just looks.
Eventually when Warner comes crawling back she is the one to throw him over, exclaiming: “If I’m gonna be partner in a law firm by the time I’m 30, I’m going to need a boyfriend who’s not such a complete bonehead!”
