Wicked branded ‘movie of the year’ as fans are ‘losing their minds’ over Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo in new trailer
WICKED has released its full-length trailer, and fans are already labeling it as this year’s must-see film.
The 2003 Broadway smash, based on the 1995 American novel of the same name, has been made into a movie directed by Jon M. Chu.
Part 1 of the highly-anticipated film will be released in theaters on November 27.
The new film stars Tony Award-winning star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp, also known as the Wicked Witch of the West.
It also stars Grammy Award-winning singer Ariana Grande as Glinda, known as the Good Witch.
After the first glimpse of the film aired during this year’s Super Bowl, the first full-length trailer has now been released.
The exciting new visuals have fans excited for November, with some already calling it the movie of the year.
“We are gagged,” one person commented on the clip.
“I speak for everyone when i say we will be watching,” a second wrote.
“The bond between ariana and cynthia is like no other…. these movies will change lives,” a third said.
“THE MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!” a fourth said, while a fifth also noted, “MOVIE OF THE YEAR ALREADY.”
The film also stars Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, the conventionally attractive head-honcho at Shiz University who becomes Elphaba’s love interest.
Spongebob the Musical star Ethan Slater plays the role of Boq, who hopelessly yearns for Glinda’s attention.
Madame Morrible is played by Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh, while Jurassic Park star Jeff Goldblum will be seen in the role of The Wizard of Oz.
Other stars included in the new film are Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, and SNL’s Bowen Yang as Pfannee.

The story comes as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, with the plot starting before Dorothy Gale arrives in Oz from Kansas.
It shows the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda after the two meet at school, where Glinda attempts to sabotage the green-skinned witch.
As the two develop a friendship, Glinda and Elphaba head off to meet with The Wizard of Oz after she is promised he will help her understand her strong powers.
The story explains how each witch got her name, along with how other characters in The Wizard of Oz — including the scarecrow, tin man, and lion — came to be.
The Broadway musical, which is loosely based on the 1995 novel, was nominated for 10 Tony Awards for the 2003-2004 season.
The original Broadway production starred Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda.
