Mitt Romney shreds Trump's GOP fanboys in matching ties: 'It's difficult to watch'

Sen. Mitt Romney is not impressed with his fellow Republicans' dress, particularly those who appeared in matching Donald Trump-inspired ensembles this week outside Manhattan criminal court.

"It's difficult to watch," Romney (R-UT) told CBS News reporter Scott MacFarlane, "watching them prostrating themselves."

Romney's words were directed at North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and Florida Rep. Cory Mills, who held a presser outside Trump's criminal hush money trial Tuesday in matching blue blazers and red ties.

Critics of the conservative posse's fashion choice called the look "excruciating" and "clownish."

CNN congressional correspondent Manu Raju said Romney was baffled by the outfit and venue: outside the court where Trump stands accused of falsifying business records to cover up hush money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

“I think it's a little demeaning to show up in front of the courthouse — and particularly one where we're talking about an allegation of paying a porn star," Romney reportedly said.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to charges, denied an affair with Daniels and claimed he's the victim of a political witch hunt orchestrated by President Joe Biden.

Romney Wednesday also condemned Trump for orchestrating what he described as a humiliating public spectacle.

“There's a level of dignity and decorum that you expect the people who are running for the highest station in the land," Romney said. "Going out and prostrating themselves in front of the public to try and, apparently, curry favor with the person who's our nominee is embarrassing.”
