Tottenham will not pay more than £45m for summer signing – Journalist predicts

0

Journalist Dean Jones is convinced that Tottenham Hotspur will let Richarlison go this summer if a sufficient offer comes their way, suggesting that the North London club will look to sign Ivan Toney on a discount as a replacement.

Richarlison, who is out with an injury, could have potentially already made his final appearance for Spurs, with various sources suggesting over recent weeks that he is of interest to Saudi Arabian sides and that Spurs are open to letting him go (TBR Football).

A couple of days ago, The Daily Mail even claimed that Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal are now ready to push ahead with a move for the Tottenham man and are ‘privately confident’ they will secure a deal for him.

Meanwhile, Toney continues to be linked with a move to Spurs, with various sources suggesting that the Lilywhites are battling the likes of Chelsea and West Ham for the 27-year-old (TBR Football).

Tottenham will not pay more than £45m for Ivan Toney

Jones believes that the Brentford star would be Tottenham’s preferred choice to replace Richarlison but he insisted that Ange Postecoglou’s men will not pay more than £45m for the England international.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Tottenham will let Richarlison go. There is not much doubt about him being potentially available, it just comes down to valuations being met.

“He has had a half-decent season and Spurs will need to recoup as much money as they can on him for when they go about reshaping the squad this summer.

“A striker is definitely in their focus, and Ivan Toney is one of the players they are interested in. I do not believe they will pay more than £45million for him, from what I have been told, and I think that any striker they look to sign is probably going to be in that similar price bracket.

“Harry Kane might have left for £100million and not been replaced, but they won’t be spending silly money on a new forward.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure Saudi clubs would be too keen on paying £50m or more for Richarlison this summer, given the striker’s recent injury issues. So the plans Tottenham have of recouping the fee they paid for the Brazilian might be quite optimistic.
