Pickup sideswiped bus carrying crew to pick Florida watermelons, killing 8 Mexican farmworkers

Mexico's consulate in central Florida is working to support a community of farmworkers after a highway collision killed eight Mexican citizens and injured 40 other people. A Florida man has been jailed on charges of driving under the influence-manslaughter in the wreck. Authorities say the man's pickup truck sideswiped a bus carrying 53 people early Tuesday, and the bus swerved off a rural two-lane road, rolling over and landing in a horse pasture. Mexico's foreign secretary Alicia Bárcena says all eight killed were in the U.S. on H-2A farmworker visas. Florida farms use about 50,000 H-2A workers each year, more than any other state.
