Tech company showcases all-electric aircraft

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The next generation of aviation arrived at Albany International Airport on Tuesday. BETA Technologies, an electric aviation company, showcased their new, all-electric aircraft called the Alia.

The aircraft was designed to utilize an electric propulsion system to create zero emissions mid-flight. Officials hope the technology will help decrease the time rural communities need to get necessary goods.

The company has flown the plane for roughly four years. Officials said the plane can now stay in the air for up to two hours at a time.
