How Bronny James looked in his first NBA combine scrimmage

0

While this year’s NBA Draft class is being labeled as one of the weakest in terms of talent, there is still plenty of intrigue when it comes to Bronny James’ part in the class.

LeBron James’ son opted to stay in the draft after a tough freshman season at USC in which he made a comeback from cardiac arrest and averaged 4.8 points per game on a team that finished 15-18. Bronny is fully cleared for NBA action, and on Tuesday, he participated in his first NBA combine scrimmage alongside fellow draft prospects.

Just like his lone college season, Bronny’s first scrimmage showed some of his potential and inconsistency.

Bronny scored four points along with four rebounds in about 20 minutes of floor time. And while his highlights included a pair of floaters (that arc on the first one was particularly impressive), Bronny mostly struggled in action against NBA-caliber talent. He shot just 2 of 8 with no assists and three turnovers. But he’ll have other opportunities to make an impact at the combine, and he tested exceptionally well in the vertical leap on Monday.

Here’s the box score from Tuesday’s scrimmage:

Still, given how Bronny’s selection will likely bring LeBron along with him, teams are looking to see more of what Bronny can do.
