KL Rahul Vs Sanjiv Goenka IPL 2024 Controversy: Justin Langer Breaks Silence On Captain Vs Owner Animated Conversation

New Delhi: Among several controversies in the ongoing IPL 2024, the animated conversation between Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka and his captain KL Rahul grabbed the most headlines over the past week. While Goenka was at the receiving end of the social media backlash, Rahul gained full support. Speculations were rife that Rahul might be stripped of LSG captaincy and the Indian batter might not be retained for next year’s mega auction. However, nobody knew what the conversation was all about.

For the first time, LSG head coach Justin Langer revealed what happened between the two. “That was the fifth surprise of my life,” Langer told to RevSportz. “Anyone who knows Mr Goenka, anyone who knows KL Rahul, they are the two most peaceful men on the planet. Actually, they were talking about what where our plan went wrong in the game. We had a really bad game. Travis Head was brilliant, Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) bowled beautifully to us early. They beat us really well. I actually heard what was said and it was all about the plan of our game, just a bit of cricket talk,” added the Australian.

“In lighter way, I was laughing about it because it’s been such an awesome relationship between Mr Goenka, his son Shashwat, KL and myself. It’s been brilliant and so chilled out and I was surprised by the reaction,” he added. Following the the incident, rumours spread like wild fire after Rahul was not seen in the travel video to Delhi.

However, quashing all rumours, Rahul was present at the coin toss against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl. Skipper Rishabh Pant is back for Delhi after serving his one-match suspension alongside Gulbadin Naib. David Warner and Prithvi Shaw miss out. LSG have brought in Arshad Khan and Yudhvir Singh.
