Warren Co. gives free seeds for pollinator awareness
WARRENSBURG, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District is giving out free wildflower seeds to encourage pollinator habitats. Landowners who take part can convert lawn into pollinator habitats for the next three to five years as part of the Pledge a Plot for Pollinators program.
Residents can register for the program online through the Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District website. Seeds can be picked up on Friday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 394 Schroon River Road in Warrensburg.
Pledge a Plot for Pollinators combats habitat loss and fragmentation by offering free wildflower seeds for residents with 100 and 500-square-foot lots. In 2023, the conservation program led to doubling their seed order, and they are looking to top last year by converting a full acre of land.
