‘She gambled on a fart & lost’ event planner reveals worst wedding fail & why diet shakes are NOT a good idea for brides

EVERY bride wants their big day to be perfect and most spend months checking over every single detail.

Rather than just enjoying her wedding though, one newlywed had the worst reception ever after drinking risky diet shakes.

Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t the bride who shared this story on Reddit.

Instead, it was her wedding planner who recalled the now infamous moment, which happened nearly a decade ago, in the r/AskReddit forum.

Responding to a post about disaster weddings, sherevealed that she’d been organising a wedding for two ‘fairly wealthy families’ when disaster struck at the reception.

Despite battling a ‘bridezilla’ and a historic barn conversion, the wedding had gone smoothly until the bridal party were about to enter.

As she spoke with the caterer, the event planner looked over and saw ‘the most curious blend of expressions pass over the bride’s face’.

Moments later, her assistant informed her about what had happened.

She wrote: “My headset beeped on, and my assistant said ‘we have an issue’.

“It turns out that the bride had gambled on a fart and lost in a big way.”

Rather than sticking to her normal diet, the bride had been drinking risky diet shakes to fix her ‘last minute bloating’  – resulting in a Bridesmaids-style incident.

Continuing, the planner continued: “We had already realized there was zero way of her going to the bathroom: we had issues getting her into a limo, and having her use a portajohn meant one of us would have to get personal.”

The assistant quickly ushered away the bride to get the explosive diarrhoea cleaned up but after 20 minutes, she radioed again for help.

It turns out the bride had been wearing latex shapewear beneath her huge strapless ballgown.

According to the wedding planner, the waterproof undies had filled ‘like a water balloon of horror’.

She recalled: “My assistant had opened up the snap crotch and just released the evil trickling down the bride’s thighs.

“My assistant quickly sealed it back up and she and the bride vainly tried to wipe up the goo, dry, with toilet paper. This just spread it around, so they decide to give up.”

To our horror, we watch as an oily stain spread across the mid back of the gown.”

Despite the visable residue and the appalling smell, the bride demanded to go ahead with her first dance rather than keep her guests waiting any longer.

The wedding planner told the forum: “The dance was a choreographed affair, and as the groom spun his bride around, hand on her waist, he is squishing the poo up the insides of the waist trainer, up and out the back waistband.

“To our horror, we watch as an oily stain spread across the mid back of the gown.

“As we are still cringing from this, the groom sets his hand firmly in the middle of the poo stain.”

Even this didn’t stop the reception, with the couple doing the cake cutting while looking ‘downright repulsed’.

After this, the wedding planner sprung into action hosing down the blushing bride with a tub of water and washing up gloves from the caters.

Dressed in a disposable poncho, she claims she looked like ‘American Psycho’ and questioned every life decision she’d ever made as she scrubbed the sobbing naked bride.

As the diarrhoea was almost everywhere, the wedding planner had to throw away the waist shaper and wash the $15k wedding gown back in a plastic basin.

Incredibly, the happy couple made it back to the reception and their photos even in appeared in magazines.

While we all want to look good on our big day, this story is an important reminder that clothes are made to fit us and not the other way around.

5 ways to save £10k on your wedding

Josie Griffiths, Deputy Digital Fabulous editor and bride-to-be shares her tips to cut the cost on your big day.

“There’s no getting around it, weddings are expensive, but there’s some easy ways to strip back the cost without your guests noticing.”

Ditch pricey invites

We made our designs for free on Canva, and then sent them out on email or WhatsApp. If you want to post invites to important people, VistaPrint is brilliant and cost us less than 30p per guest to sort. SAVING: £600

Cut back on flowers

I was pretty stunned that lots of wedding florists quote £3k-£5k as a MINIMUM spend. Your wedding flowers will be dead within days, save your cash and invest it in pics and video instead, as these actually last. Keep shopping round until you find someone reasonably priced, or speak to your local florist two months out to arrange bouquets. SAVING: £4.5k

Ditch wedding favours

They don’t fit in people’s handbags and were cleared away by catering staff at half the weddings I’ve been to as a guest. The best way to save cash here is just not to bother. SAVING: £300-£700

Be ruthless with your guest list

No one’s ‘entitled’ to a plus one and the groom’s second cousin doesn’t need to come. Your true friends won’t kick off and if anyone chooses not to come over guest list dramas, that just means you’ve saved twice. SAVING: £150 PER HEAD

Do your own booze

Make finding a venue where you can do your own bar a priority, ideally with no corkage or a £500 max cost. Aldi’s £22 Champagne beat Veuve Clicquot in a Which? blind taste test and they have tasty wines for less than a fiver, you won’t do better on a paid bar. SAVING: £2k
