Centre extends ban imposed on LTTE for 5 years
The Centre extended the ban on Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) for five more years citing its ongoing separatist activities and efforts to regroup and promote the concept of 'Eelam'. It indicated a threat to India's integrity and security, particularly in Tamil Nadu, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, as the group persists in fundraising, propaganda, and regrouping activities both locally and internationally.
