Major Coronation Street villain returns – and it’s bad news for Roy Cropper
A MAJOR Coronation Street villain is set to return – and it’s bad news for Roy Cropper.
The cafe owner is currently in prison after being wrongly accused of being responsible for teenager Lauren Bolton’s disappearance and alleged murder.
Roy has been struggling behind bars and at times has refused to leave his cell.
Following his collapse and hospital stint, Roy had hoped he had remembered a crucial piece of evidence regarding a necklace Lauren had been wearing, which would get him out of prison.
But when that line of inquiry drew a blank for the police, Roy has become despondent again.
In upcoming Coronation Street scenes, his niece Nina tells Stu she’s concerned for Roy as he won’t speak to anyone or leave his cell.
Meanwhile in prison, a fellow inmate called Roscoe enters Roy’s cell, but Roy’s frightened and leaps up, sending his chess board flying.
A bemused Roscoe leaves him to it.
In a bid to cheer him up, Evelyn suggests to Roy they start a book club while he’s in prison.
Roy’s pleased to have something to look forward to.
But his joy looks to be shortlived, as elsewhere in the prison, Griff Reynolds tells the guard it’s good to be back in Weatherfield nick.
Corrie fans will remember that Griff was a far-right extremist who groomed Max Turner in 2022.
He has a connection to Lauren as he was friends with her dad, Reece Bolton, and used her to seduce Max and lure him into his far-right gang.
His twisted views prompted him to place a bomb in Alya Nazir’s Speed Daal van with the aim of it blowing up in a crowded market.
Thankfully Max came to his senses in time and warned everyone, and Alya bravely drove the van into a field before it exploded, injuring her but thankfully not killing her.
While all his mates were arrested, Griff managed to go into hiding before trying to brainwash Max again.
