Mom mauled to death at bus stop trying to protect her kids from dogs
A mom trying to protect her children from a pack of dogs was found mauled to death at a bus stop three days before Mother’s Day.
Courtney Williams, 35, was discovered dead in the front yard of her home in Quitman on Thursday evening, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Webster Road to reports of multiple minors being attacked by a dog.
Williams’ body was found at a bus stop behind Brooks County Middle School.
‘When deputies arrived, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property,’ stated the GBI on Sunday.
‘It was determined the juveniles had already been transported to a local hospital by a private citizen.’
Williams’ sister-in-law, Crystal Cox, shared the news and more details ‘with a heavy heart’ on Facebook on Friday.
‘The neighbors dogs attacked her and the kids, her son kayden didn’t get away fast enough as he pushed his sister out of harms way he was hurt pretty bad and his doing good,’ wrote Cox. ‘They stapled him up his in pain and at my house resting.’
In another post, Cox said that two other children were ‘fine shook up and still processing things’, and shared photos of Kayden’s injuries from a hospital.
According to Cox, a boy named Nathan ran to the school to try to get help and turned back and found a man ‘who I’m going to call an angel’.
Kayden pushed his sister out of harm’s way ‘but took on the dogs himself’ and the man helped fight the canines off, put the children in his truck and took them to a hospital, said Cox.
‘This man which we don’t know his name is a blessing to my family for with out him I don’t know what the out come would have been if anyone knows of this man,’ Cox wrote.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine Williams’ cause of death.
The GBI is leading an investigation into her death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the agency’s office in Thomasville.
