Vermont corrections officer arrested for contraband
RUTLAND, Vt., (NEWS10)-- A Vermont correctional officer was arrested on Friday, May 10, for allegedly facilitating contraband at Marble Valley Correctional Facility. According to police, David Orvis was relieved of duty on Friday, Feb. 2, when the investigation began.
Police said Orvis coordinated with two inmates to transport tobacco into the jail. He received electronic payments for the tobacco which the inmates collected.
During the investigation, Orvis resigned from his position as a corrections officer. State police processed Orvis and issued an appearance ticket to Rutland District Court for Monday, June 17, at 8:30 a.m.
