‘It was f***ing awful!’ says Chloe Madeley as she reveals secret depression battle after brutal split from James Haskell
CHLOE Madeley has revealed her secret depression battle after splitting from James Haskell, saying: ‘It was f***ing awful!’
Personal trainer Chloe, 36, shocked fans in October when she announced her split from rugby ace James, 39, after five years of marriage.

But Chloe has now told how she fell into a form of situational depression following the separation.
In a new interview with OK! magazine, she explained: “I’ve actually never had depression before and obviously it was very circumstantial.
“So I didn’t realise when people say, ‘I can’t’ do something, you really just can’t. Friends would say, ‘Come over and have dinner,’ but I couldn’t. I couldn’t even reply to emails.
“I really went through the wringer. Other than taking care of Bodhi, I wasn’t really doing any real self-care. But when I started coming to terms with the decision, because I knew I was never going to change my mind, I eventually started to get excited about what my life would look like.”
Chloe credits her famous parents, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, for helping her out of the “black hole”.
She added: “They made my transition into motherhood and also my separation doable and a positive experience in many ways, so I’m eternally grateful to them. I don’t know what I’d do without them.”
The couple first sparked break-up rumours when nutritionist Chloe stepped out band-free on a night out in London.
In October, The Sun exclusively revealed how Chloe had ditched her wedding ring when James was spotted chatting to a different mystery blonde.
In his statement on their split, James wrote: “It’s with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done.
“My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won’t be commenting any further.”
Chloe added in her own social media announcement: “James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023.
“We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time – certainly not while the television show was airing – but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.
“Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time.
