Mum, 26, who flew 8,000 miles for FOUR Turkey surgeries in one day says ‘excrutiating pain was worse than childbirth’

A WOMAN who flew to Turkey for a ‘mummy makeover’ was left in ‘the most excruciating pain’ after having four surgeries in one day.

Brittany Barkway flew 8,000 miles from Australia to Turkey to get a tummy tuck, breast lift and implants, full-body liposuction and a Brazilian butt lift, all in one go.

Despite having undergone the pain of childbirth, the mum said she’d never felt something like it before and claimed she’d “rather have triplets”.

Brittany, 26, flew to Turkey 14 months after having her daughter, paying $20,000 AUD (£10,522) in total – including her flights – and going under the knife on April 30.

But after she woke up, she was left in “the most excruciating pain” and claims three bags of morphine had little effect.

“The goal was to have a mummy makeover and look better than my postpartum body,” Brittany, a dental assistant from Melbourne, Australia, told What’sTheJam.

“After having my daughter, my postpartum body wasn’t great.

“I had loose saggy skin around my tummy, and my boobs dropped.

“I got my surgery in Turkey as there’s not many good plastics surgeons in Australia that have a good reputation for BBLs, and Turkey is the leading plastic surgery country in the world.

“It was always something I’ve wanted to have done.”

Brittany decided to have all four procedures done in one day so she could get back home to her child.

She said: “For me, the easiest thing was to do one surgery, smash it out, not have too much time away from my baby and get home and recover from everything all at once.”

But the mum woke up from her surgeries to terrifying pain.

She said: “When I first came out of surgery it was a pain I haven’t experienced before.

“[It was] such a big procedure to go through so my body wasn’t used to a lot of things at once.

“The birth of my daughter was a four-hour labour and wasn’t that intensive.”

Brittany shared a clip of herself on TikTok after waking up in pain, saying she would “rather have triplets”.

In the clip – which garnered 2.7 million views – she says: “I’m telling you that this is the most excruciating pain I’ve ever been through.

“I’ve had three bags of morphine and I can still feel absolutely everything.”

Mentally prepare yourself properly for these procedures, ask for pain relief, don’t be afraid to tell them what you think is wrong or something doesn’t seem right

She’s not the first to be left in excruciating pain after flying to Turkey for a ‘mummy makeover’.

Danielle Hunt, 35, from Manchester, travelled to Istanbul, Turkey, in October 2022 to have breast implant replacements, a tummy tuck and liposuction – but was left in “dire pain” and green puss oozing out of her wounds.

Stephanie Frampton also opted to have a tummy tuck, breast lift and liposuction at a clinic in Turkey and was left in agony months later after suffering a flesh-eating infection which slowly ate away at her skin.

‘DO YOUR RESEARCH’

Despite the experience, Brittany still said the surgeries were “well worth it”, looking back on them a week later.

She said: “I look at my body seven days post-op and think they’re great already.

“But I still have a long way to go in terms of recovery – usually it’s three months.

“The tummy tuck is what hurt the most and what puts you out more than any other procedure.”

For anyone looking to get something similar, Brittany advised: “My message would be to mentally prepare yourself properly for these procedures, ask for pain relief, don’t be afraid to tell them what you think is wrong or something doesn’t seem right.

“Do your research on the clinic, and take someone with you.

“Sightsee before you have surgery and make sure you’re getting exactly what you’re wanting.”

The UK Government met with Turkish officials last year after British national Melissa Kerr, 31, died during a BBL operation.

In the past few years at least 28 Brits have died — seven in Turkey — after complications from BBL ops.

Meanwhile, a Sun investigation found medics from Turkey exploiting legal loopholes to offer consultations promising cut-price ops.

What are the risks of getting surgery abroad?

IT'S important to do your research if you're thinking about having cosmetic surgery abroad.

It can cost less than in the UK, but you need to weigh up potential savings against the potential risks.

Safety standards in different countries may not be as high.

No surgery is risk-free. Complications can happen after surgery in the UK or abroad.

If you have complications after an operation in the UK, the surgeon is responsible for providing follow-up treatment.

Overseas clinics may not provide follow-up treatment, or they may not provide it to the same standard as in the UK.

Also, they may not have a healthcare professional in the UK you can visit if you have any problems.
