UK beach bar reopens for the summer where you can spot basking sharks from the terrace

A BEACH bar in the UK has been praised by customers because of its unique location and views.

Trevaunance Cove in Cornwall is loved by families, who visit year-round for its near-perfect seaside experience.

It received title from Proper Cornwall, who labelled it a “perfect spot for families and sunbathers”.

They wrote: “Bookended on both sides by squared-off rugged cliffs, it looks like someone actually sat down and planned this cove before designing it with a team because it’s just so neat and well put together.”

Away from its fine sand, its rock pools and clear waters that are great for taking a dip in the summer, Trevaunance Cove is also home to Schooners, a pub that overlooks the bay.

The beach bar is also home to a taproom and is run by the Verdant Brewing Co, which reopened last month ahead of the summer.

In addition to the five beers they always have on tap, the bar also serves wines, spirits and soft drinks, as well as Neapolian-style pizzas.

On sunnier days, guests can enjoy their food and drink out on a balcony, where they can take in views of the beach.

One local recently labelled it the “best beach bar in North Cornwall” in a video on Instagram.

Our Cornish Life said: “Schooners overlooking Trevaunance Cove on a sunny spring evening with a pint of Verdant in hand, you can’t get much better than that.”

One of their followers commented, saying: “It’s a magical spot.”

Another wrote: “Been there several times, beautiful spot!”

A third simply added: “It’s stunning.”

It’s not just people who enjoy their visits to Trevaunance, with animals also frequently spotted on the sand and in the sea.

Every Easter, dog races are held at the beach, with barbecue food served alongside, as a fun way to welcome the start of the warmer months. Anyone can register their dog to take part if they wish to.

However, during the summer, basking sharks can occasionally be seen swimming in the waters around Trevaunance and the surrounding area.

One company who runs basking shark tours is Padstow Sealife Safaris, who claim that the best time to see the creatures in the area is between April and October.

They said: “Book a boat trip between April to October for the best chances to see a Basking Shark; they peak at Cornish waters around mid-summer as temperatures begin to rise.

“Our boat trips are a truly magical experience, especially with basking sharks normally being very hard to see from onshore.”

Dolphins, seals and puffins can all be seen in the region too for anyone excited by the prospect of coming face to face with some sealife.

Meanwhile, dolphins can be seen from beer gardens in this underrated UK beach spot.

And this London pub has its own secret beach, as well as a hangman’s gallows.
