Rishabh Pant Was ANGRY: Axar Patel REVEALS DC Captain’s Mood Following One-Match Ban in IPL 2024

Bengaluru: The Delhi Capitals missed captain Rishabh Pant against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium as he was banned for a match following two breaches of the Code of Conduct. Axar Patel, who stood in as captain for the Capitals against the Royal Challengers, revealed that Pant was quite angry. Axar revealed Pant was angry as the DC captain felt he was penalised for the actions of his bowlers.

“Rishabh was angry about being banned, bowlers are late but the captain gets punished. But he’s at the ground, is motivated and has told us not to feel like he’s not with us and focus on the process,” Patel said at the toss against Bengaluru.

DC were 10 minutes behind time at the start of the final over in the RR game.

“Mr Rishabh Pant, Captain, Delhi Capitals has been fined has been fined and suspended for one match for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct after his team maintained a slow over-rate against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on May 07, 2024,” an IPL statement read.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Delhi Capitals by 46 runs to keep their hopes of a playoff finish alive.

Pushed into batting first, DC dropped four catches as RCB stayed the course of playing attacking cricket. But the visitors came back strongly in the last five overs, giving away 49 runs while taking five wickets to keep RCB to 187/9, 13 runs below 200, which seemed to be a strong possibility at one point.

In reply, Dayal led a superb bowlers’ show on a slightly two-paced pitch to bowl out DC for 140. DC, playing without captain Rishabh Pant due to slow-over rate suspension, never recovered from the setback of losing four wickets in the Power-play. Stand-in skipper Axar Patel’s 57 off 39 balls kept DC in the hunt, but he found little support from other batters, as dropping four catches in the first innings came back to haunt them.
