The Bureau has a strong wind warning for today for stiff southerlies, but as of 0830 it was WSW 13-19 kts, so the mix of ESE and south swell was delivering clean, if pretty lined up shoulder to head plus sets at Dee Why. The beach looked like a long shot, with lots of walled-out, shutting down sets, while the point was both smaller and less consistent. The MHL buoy was showing 2 metres of SE at close to 12 seconds apart, so expect the sets to pack a punch. Another day for beginners to sit it out. Obviously with the forecast, the plan is to hit it before the southerlies do. Tide range is less than a metre with the 1240 1.24 m high being just 40 cm above the low at 1750. Beachwatch is calling Pollution Unlikely for Dee Why and water is still a mild 22.
Swell’s expected to dial back tomorrow, but it should still be in the fun size range with likely offshore conditions on what the Bureau tells us should be a mostly sunny day. With any luck the energy levels will still be in the surfable range for morning sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

Weather Situation
A weakening low pressure system lies off the New South Wales coast today, as a high passes to the south. The low will move gradually east today, with southerly winds developing along much of the coast in its wake. Behind this, a new high is forecast to extend a ridge across southeast Australia during the coming days, with coastal winds gradually easing as the high passes overhead mid-week.
