Transfer insider Pete O’Rourke has revealed in his column on Football Insider that a bid of £50m from Tottenham would be enough to clinch a deal for Ivan Toney this summer.

O’Rourke reveals that Spurs are searching for a top-quality number nine this summer to fill the void left by Harry Kane’s departure last year, with Toney being one of the names on their wishlist.

He says that the Brentford star would be an ideal fit, given his ability to hold up the ball, bring his teammates into the game and score goals in abundance.

Ivan Toney will cost around £50m this summer

O’Rourke claims that while the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea previously showed interest in the 27-year-old, their interest has now cooled, thus potentially opening the door for Tottenham.

He asserts that a £50m offer would be enough for Ange Postecoglou’s men to clinch the deal, allowing the Bees to make a huge profit on the fee they paid to sign the striker back in 2020.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not clear at all the moment where Toney is going to end up, with there appearing to be no clear frontrunner. One would certainly expect Spurs to be involved in the race and potentially test Brentford’s resolve with a couple of offers.
