Tonight, we will see clearing skies and gradually diminishing winds, along with another chance of viewing the northern lights later. Morning readings will fall into the mid- to upper 40s.
Sunshine will brighten Mother's Day, as high pressure builds across the Southern states. Readings will edge back into the low 70s, after a cool start in the 40s.
A frontal boundary will lift northward on Monday early next week, putting the region back into a southerly flow of moist air. A slow-moving storm system in the central part of the country will track eastward across the Ohio Valley on Tuesday.
Several rounds of showers and a few embedded storms will develop on Monday evening and continue on Tuesday. Temperatures will reach the 70s despite cloudiness.
A drier pattern, with high pressure nosing southward, will bring more sunshine Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures in the 70s. A cold front will bring back rain and storms Friday, before pushing rain south of the region next weekend
