Mariners Reacts Survey: Meandering in Minnesota

Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

After a tough series in Minnesota, is it time for the Mariners to look for help elsewhere?

It has been a frustrating week for Mariners fans. Two weeks ago we were talking about this team finally putting it all together, and now after a series loss to the Twins that ended with rotation stalwart Logan Gilbert getting blown up in the first inning, it feels like it’s falling apart. While very good, the pitching has not always been consistent with what we expected. With so many games in a season, it’s a given that sometimes your rotation will not show up. The offense, however, has been abysmal. There have been some bright moments here and there, but for the most part, they have been wildly inconsistent, and nothing defined this more than when the Mariners got the bases loaded with no outs and failed to score more than one run on a sac fly, one measly step above a NOBLETIGER. It's too early in the season to throw out the entire team, but it’d definitely be time to consider changes that may need to be made to get this team back on track.

Last week's results have been just as interesting and relevant:

The majority of you only see Polanco as a short-term solution, so the question is how short a short turn is if the second baseman can’t turn up the production.

We were also more optimistic about the offense two weeks ago; maybe we spoke too soon.

Finally, we talked about Hancock's performance so far; despite solid showings, many of you would still prefer that Woo return to the rotation. Good news, since he’ll be back on the mound tonight.

For this week, it’s time to start asking where the issues are in this team and how we can address them, is it time to pull the plug on some experiments? Let us know what you think through the survey below!
