Will Shubman Gill FACE One Match BAN For Breach of IPL Code of Conduct During GT vs CSK Match?
Ahmedabad: After being ignored from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Shubman Gill made a statement on Friday to the selectors by smashing a breathtaking 104 off 55 balls. After reaching the milestone, he seemed to have got a little over-excited with the adrenaline pumping. The incident in question took place in the 17th over. Gill seemed to have used the ‘F-word’ after his century, now, will that land him in trouble for breaching IPL’s Code of Conduct?
Gill is likely to be found guilty of breaching the Code of Conduct under Article 2.5 which pertains to “Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction”.
This is his second offense as Gill was earlier found guilty of breaching the code of conduct in the match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk. His side maintained a slow over rate during the match and consequently, he was fined Rs 12 Lakh.
Back then, IPL in an official statement had said, “Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 26. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Gill was fined ₹12 lakh.”
Gill, this season, took charge of the team as the former captain of Gujarat Titans (GT), Hardik Pandya was traded to the Mumbai Indians (MI). One has to admit that it has not been the best of seasons for them, but it is not over yet.
