Yuni Takada to defend Japanese title against Yuri Kanaya
Earlier today it was announced that Japanese Minimumweight champion Yuni Takada (14-8-3, 6) [高田勇仁] would be returning to the ring on July 12th to make his 4th defense of the title, as he takes on #7 ranked challenger Yuri Kanaya (5-2, 1) [金谷 勇利].
The talented, and fun to watch, Takada has held the title since April 2023, when he stopped Shuri Hasebe for the vacant title, and since then he has beaten Tatsuro Nakahsima, Katsuki Mori and Shunsuke Isa. Although no world beater he is much better than his record suggests, going 6-0-1 in his last 7 and avenging his most recent loss, twice, against Isa. As for Kanaya he was tipped for success when he turned professional, doing so in a 6 rounder against Sora Takeda, which was followed by solid wins over Masatora Okada and Takumi Chono. Sadly since the good start he has gone 2-2 suffering two stoppage losses, and he will clearly be the under-dog here.
The bout, which will be promoted by Kaneko Promotions, hasn’t yet had any other announced for it, though we do know it will the main event of Golden Child Boxing Vol139.
