ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The restaurant industry is ever-changing with restaurants opening, closing, relocating, or just doing their thing. Here’s a recap of the latest Capital Region restaurant news, May 6 through 10.

Lake Desolation tavern under new ownership

Tinney’s Tavern, located on Lake Desolation in Saratoga County, has new owners. The news of the ownership change was announced at the end of April.

Amsterdam pizzeria under new ownership

Slice of Amsterdam, located at 189 Market Street in Amsterdam, has new owners. The pizzeria is now owned by husband and wife duo Kanisha and Maurice Conyers, along with friends Tyler Lopez and Anthony Blazquez.

Albany coffee shop launches bar service ‘Fuel & Spirits’

Motor Oil Coffee, located in Albany’s Slip 12 apartment building, has debuted its bar program called Fuel & Spirits. After coffee service ends, the shop will stay open to serve alcohol.

Jamaican eatery opens in new location in Bennington

After closing at its original location in November, Island Flavor has found a new spot in Bennington. The Jamaican restaurant is now located at 1001 Main Street in the former Krijnen Bakery space.

Albany restaurant sets last day, owners hope to open new eatery in June

The Cuckoo’s Nest, which opened on Western Avenue in Albany in 2017, has set its last day of service. The restaurant’s final day will be Sunday, May 19, said owner Kaytrin Ziemann.

‘Third time’s a charm:’ Bagel shop moving to Lake George

Kerry Smith opened Glens Falls Bagels on South Street in Glens Falls in November 2022. The bagel shop then moved to South Glens Falls and reopened in June 2023. At the end of October, Smith announced the shop was closed until further notice.

Schwalbacher Brewing coming to Amsterdam

The City of Amsterdam is getting a new brewery. Schwalbacher Brewing is set to open at 30 E Main Street, with its grand opening scheduled for July 4.

South Glens Falls carhop hosts grand reopening

Mr. Bill’s Carhop will host a grand reopening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, May 18. The drive-in restaurant’s ownership changed hands in August 2023, and several investments have been made since then.

Saratoga Lake restaurant debuts new name, menu

In 2023, Druthers Brewing Company took over 550 Waterfront on Saratoga Lake. At that time, the name was changed to 550 Waterfront by Druthers and it was announced that the restaurant was staying open all year round.

After long delay, Italian deli soon opening in Schenectady

Ron Suriano II has been working to open Suriano’s Deli & Italian Specialties at 140 Clinton Street in Schenectady for about three years now. After some delays, he’s finally close to opening the deli.
