Amsterdam woman arrested for alleged welfare fraud

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- An Amsterdam woman was arrested for alleged welfare fraud on Thursday, May 9. Deborah Farley-Parillo, 65, was arrested for third-degree welfare fraud and two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

Police said Farley-Parillo failed to report her marital status and all of her income on two SNAP applications with the Montgomery County Department of Social Services in 2023. The Department of Social Services and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office assisted the sheriff's office with the investigation.

Farley-Parillo was arraigned in the City of Amsterdam Court and released. She is scheduled to appear in court again at a later date.
