Dow Jones ekes out 8th consecutive closing high

NEW YORK, New York - U.S. stocks were mixed on Friday as new data showed inflation remaining a problem. The Dow Jones index however extended its winning streak to eight consecutive days.

The preliminary May reading for the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index came in at 67.4, well below a Dow Jones estimate of 76. It was the lowest reading in six months.
