Ex-President Donald Trump called it ‘funny’ that his youngest son Barron Trump likes politics and joked that he is ‘a little on the tall side’.

Trump made several remarks about Barron, who turned 18 in March and is 6-foot-7, after news broke that he will make his political debut as an at-large delegate to the Republican National Convention.

Barron, who through his youth has been fiercely guarded by his mother Melania Trump, appeared on a list revealed late Wednesday of the delegation set to officially nominate Trump as the Republican presidential candidate.

Following the report, a Trump campaign official told ABC News that Barron ‘is very interested in our nation’s political process’, and his father has confirmed that is the case.

‘He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he’s a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics,’ Trump said on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT on Friday.

‘It’s sort of funny.

‘He’ll tell me sometimes, “Dad, this is what you have to do.”’

Trump added that Barron is ‘a good guy’ and ‘a smart one’.

Barron, who is a high school senior, will be going to college, his dad also confirmed, before using it as a segue to criticize pro-Palestine protests at university campuses across the US and blaming President Joe Biden.

‘You know, a lot of, a lot of these choices of colleges are changing because you see what’s going on in the last month,’ Trump said. ‘Biden has totally lost control of the country. And just to finish up, he is the worst president.’

Trump’s remarks on Friday came a day after he got Barron’s age wrong when asked about his selection as a delegate.

‘He’s pretty young, I will say. He’s 17,’ Trump told Telemundo 51 of Miami. ‘But if they can do that, I’m all for it.’

Asked about the interview, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung criticized NBC News, which along with Telemundo has NBCUniversal as its parent company.

Cheung told The Independent that NBC News ‘lost its mind and clearly suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome… NBC has chosen to engage in tabloid journalism fit for the checkout aisle of a grocery store.’

Trump, who has been attending his hush money trial for weeks, was given May 17 off by the judge to attend Barron’s graduation.
