Tax breaks for Alabama businesses to help employees afford childcare

MONTGOMERY, Alabama: This week, lawmakers approved legislation to provide state tax breaks to Alabama businesses that help their employees afford childcare.

The Alabama Senate voted 31-0 for the bill, which will now go to Governor Kay Ivey for her signature.

The bill's supporters said that childcare costs are a barrier for many parents considering returning to the workforce.
