Nicholas Galitzine Gives Blunt Answer to Feelings on His 'Heartthrob' Status

British actor Nicholas Galitzine has gone through quite a breakthrough in the past year. After roles in hit movies last year like Bottoms and Red, White & Royal Blue, Galitzine is now playing Anne Hathaway's love interest in the new Prime Video romcom The Idea of You. 

Galitzine has been acting for a decade, but his newfound popularity has led to a level of scrutiny that he isn't exactly used to. In a new interview with British GQ, he spoke honestly about his recent heartthrob status and how it's affected him mentally. He confessed that working alongside Taylor Zakhar Perez in Red, White & Royal Blue wasn't easy in every way. "Taylor is like an Adonis," he said. "It was difficult in some aspects, being so closely compared to him."

While he may be beloved by many for his looks these days, Galitzine doesn't exactly see it. He pointed out how he used to be "disgusted in some ways" by his face and isn't a fan of his "rugby player thighs" and "big a--." He's also received some stinging criticism online about his dark eye bags and tired appearance.

In the end, Galitzine remains uncomfortable with his place as a dreamboat and just wants to ensure that it doesn't overshadow his actual work.  

“I think the most important thing to me is that I’m taken seriously as a performer,” Galitzine said. "I’m not gonna ask you to cry me a river here, but it’s been difficult being part of a conversation that feels very much like I am a cut of beef at a meat market. I think that being my defining feature is something I’m constantly terrified of."
