Woman arrested for DUII after flipping car in Beaverton, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Beaverton police arrested a woman accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants and flipping her car early Thursday morning.

The 37-year-old Aloha resident was uninjured when officers found her in the crashed 2010 Ford Escape near the intersection of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Murray Boulevard.

Authorities said the car hit a construction trailer and then flipped onto its roof when the woman drove through caution tape and around traffic cones into a closed-off area.

“Her Ford Escape then reportedly hit a detached fork to a backhoe before traveling up the back of a construction trailer, causing her vehicle to overturn before it finally came to rest,” police said.

The woman was arrested for DUII and her car was towed away from the scene.

Her arrest came just days after the agency had made their 37th DUII arrest of April. Of these arrests, police said eight drivers refused to take a breath test, which led officers to proceed with a warrant for a blood draw.

“According to the Center for Disease Control, 32 people in the United States are killed every day in crashes involving an alcohol-impaired driver—this is one death every 45 minutes,” officials said. “Drinking and driving do not mix.”
