TULSA, Okla. (KFOR) - Emergency crews in Tulsa had an unexpected patient after a truck crash Thursday morning.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers responded to a crash near 21st St. and Lewis Ave. around 1:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found a truck that had crashed into a power pole. The driver of the truck said he had chest pain, but he was very worried about his dog, a chihuahua who was also in the truck.

EMSA and the Tulsa Fire Department began treating the driver, but officers found the dog unresponsive in the floorboard of the truck.

"The dog had a laceration on the head. Paramedics began treating the dog, and with a little love from the Officers, the Chihuahua began moving." Tulsa PD said on Facebook.

The driver and his dog were taken to a nearby hospital and both are expected to be okay.

Tulsa PD says the driver explained that the dog jumped into his lap while he was driving, which caused him to drive into the pole.
