Preview – Derry City v Bohemians
Derry City vs Bohemians – Friday 10th May 2024 – KO 7.45pm – Brandywell
SSE Airtricity Premier Division
Match sponsored by Centra Link, Creggan Rd
Derry City host Bohemians at Ryan McBride this Friday(kick off 7.45PM) with the home side looking to keep pace at the top of the table.
The Candystripes have picked up two wins and two draws since defeat against Shamrock Rovers. Only Shelbourne’s late equaliser on Monday night denied the side going top of the table.
Results elsewhere mean that it is still very tight close to the top of the table, with three points separating the top three sides.
The Derry manager was disappointed with the late equaliser on Monday against the league leaders, but backed his players and their current performances.
“It was disappointing in the manner that it ended, Brian didn’t have a save to make on the night. We controlled most of the game. The players are going to the well and giving everything.”
On a positive note, Higgins welcomed the return of Sadou Diallo
“Diallo made his return and the minutes will be good for him. Patrick and Cameron are getting closer but it remains to be seen if Friday night is too close for them.”
In the Round 1 meeting of the two sides, Bohs picked up all three points with the winner coming from ex Candystripe James Akintunde. Since that game, Bohs have made a managerial change with Alan Reynolds replacing Declan Devine. Bohs picked up an impressive point in the Dublin derby v Shamrock Rovers but this has been bookended by defeats to Galway United and Dundalk in recent weeks.
Last season saw two draws and each team picking up a victory in the away fixture, City winning in Dalymount in May 2023, whilst Bohs took all three points in April.
No tickets remain online for the fixture, whilst limited tickets may be available at local outlets(see club website for outlets). The game will be streamed on LOITV and radio coverage is available on Radio Foyle and Drive 105.
