Establishing open prisons can be solution to decongest jails: Supreme Court

Open prisons allow convicts to work outside during the day and return in the evening to integrate into society and reduce psychological pressure. The court expressed interest in expanding open prisons nationwide, citing the efficient system in Rajasthan. However, it clarified that it wouldn't address issues already pending before other benches.
