‘Too good to be true’, say shoppers after a lucky Sainsbury’s customer shows off their 10p haul that includes meat too
A LUCKY Sainsbury’s customer has left people gobsmacked after sharing their ”amazing” grocery haul, with chunks of lamb slashed to just 10p.
With prices skyrocketing, it’s no wonder that many of us are keeping an eye out for yellow stickers and reduced bargains – and shopper Dong Lai is no exception.
The cash-savvy parent, from Manchester, recently shared snaps of their massive grocery haul from Sainsbury’s, with food going for a mere 10p.
According to the lucky customer, who’d uploaded the photos to the popular Yellow sticker shopping tips, tricks and hauls group on Facebook, they had popped into the local supermarket in the evening, before the closing time.
Never seen reductions like that before, well done

The mega haul included heaps of groceries, including skinless salmon fillets, medium fatted beef roasting joint, as well as lamb shoulder joint, all scanning for just 10p.
Whilst checking out the reduced items, Dong had also picked up packs of breaded chicken nuggets, packs of meatballs and even a few ready meals, such as honey and mustard pork with mash, as well as a potato and butternut squash dish – again, for spare change.
Other incredible bargains in the Heaton Park branch included Kansas-style boneless beef ribs and firecracker chilli beef, both of which were going for more than an eye-watering £6 before.
There were also some reductions going on at the bread section, such as a delicious cheese and garlic flatbread reduced from £1.90 to just 10p, and a seeded loaf slashed from almost £2 to 10p.
All chuffed with the incredible haul, the foodie wrote in the caption: ”Tonight Sainsbury’s, all 10p around 9pm.”
However, despite insisting that everything had indeed been cut to spare change, the post was also met with some scepticism.
A number of fellow members of the group found it hard to believe that the store would slash the prices by up to 60x in some instances.
”Bull***t, not everything would be 10p,” one person reckoned.
Another was also just as gobsmacked, adding: ”Another was also just as gobsmacked, adding: ”I don’t get it why would shops reduce it this low as they are about to close?
”Surely you would sell it earlier for more to get rid of it, never seen anything like this in my store can you let me know the location as I must be very unlucky.”
”Do you have receipt, some think this is scam?” third demanded proof – however, Dong claimed that their local Sainsbury’s branch offers such deals on a regular basis.
”Depends on what Sainsbury it is, because mine has 10p everyday.
”We just have amazing staff in our Sainsbury’s!”
Luckily, there were also heaps of positive comments, as many raced to hit back at the trolls.
”Never seen reductions like that before, well done!” one wrote.
”Wow!! What an absolute treat!! Well done!!” a second chimed in.
”That’s an amazing haul. Well done. I’d have to buy another freezer,” someone else penned.
When do supermarkets put out yellow-sticker bargains?
The time supermarkets reduce their products vary across stores.
Here’s a rough supermarket-by-supermarket guide:
Aldi
Aldi uses a red sticker to show reductions on fresh products such as bread, meat, fruit and vegetables.
This is when they have reached the last day of shelf life.
Red stickered items are most commonly found at opening and closing times.
M&S
Reduction times can vary from store to store but is most likely to occur near closing time.
Asda
Asda told Which? that yellow stickers are applied twice a day – in the morning and evening.
Co-op
Co-op told The Sun its reduced-to-clear prices are generally applied about four hours before the store closes.
Lidl
Lidl has a similar procedure to Asda and Aldi with reductions twice a day.
However individual stores may opt to reduce prices throughout the day.
Morrisons
Shoppers online have said that Morrisons does the best bargains first thing in the morning.
However, the store told Which? that there are no specific times for yellow sticker price cuts.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s told The Sun it’s at the store manager’s discretion whether to offer discounts.
However, shoppers have reported that the best deals are in the evening from 6pm.
Tesco
Tesco has said there is no specific time for reduction, but again most people found that prices were reduced from 6pm.
Waitrose
As with most of the other stores, Waitrose shoppers have said the best reductions are found before closing.
However the store stated that there is no specific time for yellow stickers to be applied.
