$8.3M in new funding coming to UAlbany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- SUNY officials celebrated Wednesday the millions of dollars in funding coming to the University at Albany. The college will be receiving $8.3 million.
The money is up 13.5 percent from last year and nearly double from two years ago. Officials said the funding is necessary to help invest in state schools and keep talent in the area.
SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. said the funding will help keep the top faculty and staff at UAlbany as well as recruit new ones.
"Together we will continue to invest in SUNY faculty, staff and students, who in return, are investing their innovation and creativity in improving the quality of life for people across New York and beyond," he said.
In total, a $114 million increase in funding is going to SUNY schools across the state.
