Mets, Cardinals Series Finale Postponed, Will Be Made Up In August

0

Due to inclement weather in the St. Louis area, Wednesday’s game, and series finale, between the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals has been postponed. The teams announced that the game will be made up on August 5 at 4:15 pm CT.

The Mets were scheduled to have an off day between their respective series against the Los Angeles Angels and Colorado Rockies, but will now go to St. Louis for a day to make-up their game against the Cardinals. That road-trip for the Mets will now be a 10-day, 10-game, four-city road trip in which that span of 10-days they will have to adjust to three different time zones.

New York will leave St. Louis with two wins, taking both of the opening two contests. In the first game, the Mets jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before needing a game-winning Brandon Nimmo solo shot to capture a 4-3 victory. On Tuesday, New York battled back via a six-run fifth inning to capture a 7-5 win. Those victories got the Mets back to .500; 18-18.

The Mets have an off-day on Thursday to travel back to New York where on Friday they will open a five-game home stand that starts with three games against the Atlanta Braves. The projected pitching matchups are Charlie Morton versus Jose Quintana in Game 1, Max Fried versus Christian Scott in Game 2, and Bryce Elder versus Luis Severino in Game 3.
