QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Queens eatery has won a new competition to determine the best halal restaurant in the borough.

Nur Thai was named the winner of the Queens Chamber of Commerce's Best Halal Restaurant Competition. The Thai fusion restaurant has two locations at 31-01 34th Ave. in Astoria and 62-32 Woodhaven Blvd. in Rego Park.

“This achievement is a testament to our team's exceptional quality and dedication to every dish we serve,” Sazzad Hossain, director and COO of the Amani Hospitality Group, said in a statement. “We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff, including our talented chefs, skilled waitstaff, and hardworking kitchen team, for their hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence.”

Mr. Chang Halal Chinese, located on Steinway Street in Astoria, and Khalil Biryani House, located on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, took second and third place in the competition.

“The variety of halal cuisine offered in Queens brings people from across New York, as well as outside state lines, to our great borough,” Tom Grech, president and CEO of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement.
