Threat of storms increasing as evening approaches
What We’re Tracking
- Numerous storms this evening
- Storms push east overnight
- Quiet pattern settles in
The chance for severe weather returns this evening as a strong storm system approaches. Storms look to form a line or a broken line of storm cells in Central Kansas initially, then move east into Northeast Kansas by the evening hours. Storms that remain isolated in nature will have the greatest risk for rotation, including tornadoes and larger hail.
Eventually, the storms form into a complete line, producing strong, straight-line wind. This line of severe storms will then push to the east and we'll gradually clear out overnight with a low in the lower 50s.
Mostly sunny weather then makes a return for a few days with highs in the 70s for the rest of the week, then some lower 80s by the upcoming weekend. Much more of a tranquil weather pattern after today's severe weather risk.
