Spurs will be interested in 28-year-old if he is available for £40m – Journalist
Transfer Insider Graeme Bailey believes that Tottenham Hotspur would only show interest in Ivan Toney if Brentford’s asking price for the striker is relatively low.
It seems quite clear that Toney is on his way out of the Gtech Community Stadium, with the striker having just a year left on his contract.
Given that he is one of the few proven Premier League forwards who guarantees 20 goals in this division, one would expect him to be quite highly sought after.
However, that is not what reports have indicated recently, with GiveMeSport claiming a couple of weeks ago that Manchester United have reservations about moving for the England international while Arsenal do not consider him a target.
The publication suggested this might open the door for Ange Postecoglou’s men to swoop for the centre-forward when the transfer window opens.

However, Bailey believes that the Lilywhites and the Red Devils are only likely to show interest in Toney if the Bees’ asking price drops to around £40m.
The journalist told The Spurs News about Tottenham’s interest in the striker: “He’s one who everyone’s waiting to find out the asking price for him. It is accurate that if he was available for £40m, Spurs would be in the market for him as would Manchester United.
“If the fee comes down low enough it is one they will look at. With Tottenham, it wouldn’t surprise me if they brought in a winger and a striker.”

Even though Toney has just a year left on his contract, top-class number nines are an extremely rare commodity, which is why Brentford will believe they can get £50m-£60m for their star man.
It has been suggested that the 27-year-old is also demanding a substantial salary, which might put off Tottenham from pursuing a deal for him.
