NEW YORK (PIX11) – At least two people died and seven were injured in a string of violence over the weekend in New York City, according to the NYPD.

A 25-year-old was shot once in the head near 199th Street and Linden Boulevard in Queens around 2 a.m. on Saturday, according to authorities. It's not immediately clear who pulled the trigger and why, police told PIX11 News.

Two people were shot outside 15 Albany Ave. just an hour earlier in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, according to authorities. A 47-year-old man was hit once in the stomach and a 34-year-old was struck once in the elbow, police said.

Two suspects were seen fleeing on a bike onto nearby Fulton Street, according to authorities.

Four people were shot at a baby shower on Atlantic Avenue in Richmond Hill around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, police said. A 24-year-old was killed and two men, ages 42 and 26, were taken to a local hospital for gunshot wounds, according to authorities.

A 26-year-old man also walked into Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for a gunshot wound in relation to the baby shower shooting, police said.

Authorities believe the baby shower shooting likely began as a dispute. Surveillance video showed a clash outside the event space, but police said it's not clear yet who opened fire.

Investigators are also working to learn what led to a 41-year-old man being shot eight times. He was shot in a building lobby on Ten Eyck Walk just before 2 a.m. on Sunday in Williamsburg, according to authorities.

He's expected to survive, police said.

EMS crews also pronounced a 37-year-old man dead after finding him unresponsive on the 1600 block of Lafayette Avenue in the Bronx. He suffered trauma to his upper body, according to authorities.
