SC asks Maharashtra to implement its directions issued in 1992-93 Mumbai riots case

The Supreme Court directed the Maharashtra government to implement its directions regarding disposal of cases, compensation for victims of the 1992 Mumbai riots, and police reforms. The court was displeased with the non-compliance of its earlier directions and instructed the Maharashtra DGP and the state home department secretary to review the recommendations of the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission and submit a "better compliance" report by July 19, 2024.
