Gavin sadly lost his mum to terminal cancer back in 2017, but before then he wrote a heartbreaking song for her.
At the time of her diagnosis, she was told she only had nine months left to live and Gavin penned the track in the last few months of her life.
During the programme, he opened up on how he felt like he got through that time emotionally, thanks to the help of the instrument and writing music.
He confessed: “I wrote that song when my mum was going through an awful time in her life.
“She found out she had cancer in January 2017 and they gave her nine months to live.
“My mum was offered chemo and she decided she did want to do it. So my mum said ‘you know what we are going to do? We are just going to live out.’ So we lived it out.’
“I took nine months off work and everyday we got together and I would take her to different places.
“I took her out on the back of my jet ski and we had a great time. Time with her during those nine months were fantastic because you cannot buy time back. We have all got sell by dates.”
After he performed the track, fans of the programme took to X – formerly known as Twitter – as they were left in tears by the touching performance.
One fan penned: “Gavin is making cry. He absolutely adored his mum #ThePiano.”
“Damn you #ThePiano sobbing!”, stated a second viewer.
“If you’re not sobbing watching #thepiano you have no heart,” declared a third user.
As a fourth added: “I’m welling up! #ThePiano.”
The personality wowed Claudia as he impressed the assembled crowd, although he was not chosen to go through to the finale.
