‘Marathi People Not Welcome’ Recruiters Linkedin Post Sparks Controversy; Netizens Express Anger

An advertisement for a Graphic Designer position on Linkedin has become controversial in Maharashtra as the post was stating that Marathi candidates should not apply. A big controversy erupted after the post went viral and many trolled the recruiters massively. Education minister Deepka Kesarkar also reacted over the controversy and ensured action against such posts. 

Job posting was shared on LinkedIn by an HR named Janhvi Sarana. It mentioned all the requirements for the job including experience and salary and also stated that ‘The Marathi people are not welcome here.’

After which the recruiter mentioned a controversial statement about the Marathi community stating ‘The Marathi people are not welcome here.’

Netizens Express Anger Over ‘No Entry For Marathi’ People

Many netizens demanded an appology from her, whereas many called a post discriminiative and demanded an action.

Esha Marathe said , “Discrimination Has No Place in Our Community. I was profoundly disturbed to come across a job posting that explicitly stated “The Marathi people are not welcome here.” This kind of language is not only hurtful but also illegal, violating basic principles of equality and non-discrimination in the workplace.”

Linkedin User named Pradeep Mhaskar said , “The job posting by Janvi Sarna was really discriminatory & in general a shame for any HR Person. Strongly condemn her thought process.”

The company for which the recruitment add was posted has disaccoitted themselves from the HR and stated, “We strongly condemn the recent hateful post directed towards Marathi people by JANVI SARNA . It’s important to clarify that she is not affiliated with our company in any capacity; she simply utilized our company name on LinkedIn, a platform open to anyone. We have reached out to her for clarification, and she has since apologized and updated her current employment details, which you can verify. Additionally, we want to reiterate that we have not posted any job requirements recently. Please take note of this and refer to our previous hiring posts for verification.”

HR Recruiter Apologies

HR named Janvi Sarna who made this post has appologised after facing a huge backlash from all sides. She said “Since I am working as a freelancer & working with lots of companies ,ITcode infotech firm was one of them & that post was not related with itcode infotech , It was due to my oversight ,

i posted that job opening.

I really apologize ,

This is to inform you that I don’t endorse such comments which discriminate against anyone,(cast, religion community)”

‘Will Not Tolerate’ Says Minister Deepak Kesarkar 

Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar has informed today that the company will be fully investigated and said that can such a post be made? will be told to check and see. When we have announced the Marathi language policy, information will be sought as to whether such a post can be posted. Deepak Kesarkar explained that such companies will work even if they are not in Maharashtra, we will set up new companies but such kind of things will not be tolerated.
