BSP changes Jaunpur candidate, fields sitting MP Shyam Singh Yadav

The BSP has changed its candidate for Jaunpur, replacing Srikala Reddy with sitting MP Shyam Singh Yadav, following a call from BSP chief Mayawati. This decision comes after former MP Dhananjay Singh's wife, Srikala Reddy, was initially given the ticket. Dhananjay Singh was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2020 case of kidnapping and extortion. Although granted bail by the Allahabad High Court, his sentence was not suspended.
