MLB fans ripped umpire C.B. Bucknor for a blown strike call to end White Sox-Cardinals immediately out of a 3 hour rain delay
MLB umpire C.B. Bucknor isn’t a stranger to making bad calls behind the plate. Just a few days ago, Orioles broadcaster Jim Palmer ripped him for a bad call. But the timing of his latest miss call left fans especially miffed Saturday.
The St. Louis Cardinals were trailing the Chicago White Sox 6-5 in the bottom of the 10th inning, with two outs and the bases juiced when the game went into a three-hour rain delay.
Everyone invested in the game had to wait all that time to see how those tense final moments would play out. But when the game finally resumed, with Ivan Herrera at the plate facing an 0-1 count, Bucknor ended it a mere minute later on an awful called strike three.
Here’s how the Cardinals broadcast reacted to the call:
Here was the Cardinals TV call on Bally Sports Midwest.
"You've got to be kidding me. After all of that, [C.B Bucknor] is going to call a pitch off the plate…."
"Not even close."

That is such a foul way to end a game after all that time.
MLB fans were disgusted, though not entirely surprised.
CB Bucknor is a very #ungood umpire. Missed the last call of the game (left) and also in the 9th inning (right)
Can’t wait to see the @UmpScorecards tomorrow https://t.co/vxmOBcZG0U pic.twitter.com/AA7UF4mUdI

The pitch was not even close. Bucknor is a joke and he embarrasses MLB on a nightly basis.

I’ve been making fun of CB Bucknor for like 20 years for his controversial (aka wrong) calls. How he has a job is beyond me.

The Cardinals should protest the outcome of thus game, if for no other reason than to bring awareness to how God awful Bucknor is. https://t.co/xkW4Lc4l0S

Angel Hernandez gets all the bad pub, but CB Bucknor has been only marginally better than Angel over the last 20 years. They're like a bad cold that won't go away. https://t.co/Tw0m14vrBG

@MLB allowing Buckner and Hernandez to still work is a travesty
