Estonian visual effects company nominated for prestigious Hollywood award

Estonian visual effects company FrostFX has been nominated in the "Outstanding Compositing & Lighting in an Episode" category at the 23rd Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards. The nomination came for "After Hours," an episode of thit HBO series "The Penguin" for which the FrostFX team created the rainy and stormy scenes of Gotham City.

Scientists have long puzzled over how pterosaurs became the first vertebrates to master flight. Some pterosaur species, such as the Quetzalcoatlus were the largest known animals to ever take to the skies, with wingspans of over ten meters (on par with military aircraft like the Spitfire). My team’s new study may help solve the evolutionary mystery, revealing how a vane on the tip of their tails may have helped these ancient animals fly more efficiently.

Giant anti-flooding device built upstream of Paris

A bitterly contested hydraulic structure in the Seine-et-Marne area east of Paris is starting to fill up, designed to protect towns on the banks of the Seine from flooding – first and foremost the French capital, which is vulnerable to major flooding aggravated by global warming.
