Proteomic and phosphoproteomic analyses reveal that TORC1 is reactivated by pheromone signaling during sexual reproduction in fission yeast

Plos.org

by Melvin Bérard, Laura Merlini, Sophie G. Martin

Starvation, which is associated with inactivation of the growth-promoting TOR complex 1 (TORC1), is a strong environmental signal for cell differentiation. In the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, nitrogen starvation has distinct physiological consequences depending on the presence of mating partners. In their absence, cells enter quiescence, and TORC1 inactivation prolongs their life. In presence of compatible mates, TORC1 inactivation is essential for sexual differentiation. Читать дальше...

Theoretical analysis of neuronal network’s response under different stimulus

Plos.org

by Haosen Xue, Zeying Lu, Yueheng Lan, Lili Gui, Xiaojuan Sun

Neuromodulation plays a critical role in the normal physiological functions of organisms. With advancements in science and technology, neuromodulation has expanded into various fields. For instance, in the field of engineering, in vitro-cultured neural networks are utilized to perform closed-loop control for achieving complex functionalities. Conducting pioneering theoretical research using mathematical models is particularly essential... Читать дальше...

An efficient real-time signal processing method for satellite laser ranging

Plos.org

by Jinyu Wang, Wei Zhu, Weiming Gong

In recent years, various real-time processing methods have been developed for Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) data. However, the recognition rate of the single-stage Graz filtering algorithm for high-orbit satellites is less than 1%, and traditional two-stage filtering algorithms, such as polynomial fitting and iterative filtering techniques, exhibit high false and missed detection rates. These issues compromise the accuracy of laser positioning and real-time adjustments during observations. Читать дальше...

Binocular contributions to motion detection and motion discrimination during locomotion

Plos.org

by Hongyi Guo, Robert S. Allison

During locomotion, the visual system can factor out the motion component caused by observer locomotion from the complex target flow vector to obtain the world-relative target motion. This process, which has been termed flow parsing, is known to be incomplete, but viewing with both eyes could potentially aid in this task. Binocular disparity and binocular summation could both improve performance when viewing with both eyes. To separate the binocular disparity... Читать дальше...
