The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has selected Ritabrata Banerjee as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-elections in West Bengal. The by-election was necessitated by Jawhar Sircar's resignation following the R G Kar rape-murder incident. Banerjee, a former CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP who joined the TMC in 2017, will contest the December 20 by-election for the single vacant seat.

Mike Tyson has being sued for allegedly reneging on a promotional deal with a gambling company to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Tyson has been sued in a London court for nearly 1.5 million euros ($1.59 million). Medier, a media company promoting gambling brand Rabona, has sued him for failing to honor a deal signed with the Cyprus-based business in January.
