Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh held an emergency meeting as violence erupted in the state following the withdrawal of support by a key ally. Protests, vandalism, and clashes with security forces led to fatalities and heightened tensions, prompting curfews and internet shutdowns in several districts.

The Indian government is increasing security forces in Manipur to restore peace. Violence erupted recently, causing loss of life and unrest. Over 200 people have died in ethnic clashes since last year. The Home Minister will hold a meeting to discuss strategies for handling the situation. Additional forces will be deployed based on the level of violence in different areas.
